Media mogul Ted Turner, founder of CNN, is recovering from a bout of pneumonia. A representative confirmed that Turner recently underwent hospitalization and is currently receiving rehabilitation at a Florida facility. The representative described the pneumonia as a “mild case” and stated that Turner expects a full recovery.
This news follows a 2018 interview with Ted Koppel on “CBS Sunday Morning,” where Turner revealed his diagnosis with Lewy body dementia (LBD). He discussed associated symptoms such as exhaustion and forgetfulness. LBD is the second most common type of dementia, after Alzheimer’s disease. At the time of his diagnosis, Turner expressed relief that it wasn’t Alzheimer’s, describing LBD as “not nearly as bad.”
Turner, known for his pioneering work in cable news with CNN and his creation of TNT and TBS, remains active. His representative reports that he is “resilient and engaged in professional and personal endeavors.” His personal life includes a notable marriage to actress Jane Fonda from 1991 to 2001. His continued engagement, despite his health challenges, underscores his enduring spirit and legacy in the media industry.
