Twelve train passengers and three firefighters suffered injuries when a train collided with a fire truck in Florida.


A Brightline train collided with a fire truck in Delray Beach, Florida, on Saturday morning, injuring three firefighters and twelve train passengers. The three Delray Beach firefighters were transported to a local hospital where they are in stable condition; two had initially been listed in critical condition. Twelve train passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, assisted by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. No fatalities have been reported.

The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the East Atlantic Avenue tracks near Railroad Avenue. The firefighters were responding to a call when the collision occurred.

An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway, led by the Delray Beach Police Department, Brightline officials, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Investigators are examining whether the crossing gates were functioning correctly and have not yet determined the specific cause of the crash.
