William D. Gaylord (1943-2023)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William D. Gaylord, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bill passed away after a courageous battle with illness on April 30, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in 1943 to William R. and Lynn Kirkland Gaylord, Bill was a trailblazer throughout his life. He was a pioneer to Paradise, California, where he made his home and raised his family.

Bill’s legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Andrea Williams Gaylord, and his cherished children, Dave Gaylord and Heidi Gaylord Wallis. He was a proud father to his five grandchildren: Trent Gaylord, Morgan Gaylord, Dylan Tenney, Payton Tenney, and Emma Brown, and adored by his five great-grandchildren.

Bill’s extended family held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his sister, Bee Herder, and his brother, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and California.

Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from Chico State University. He found great joy in sharing adventures with his family, exploring Mexico and the United States, fishing, sailing, and backpacking. Golf was another passion, and he served as past president of the local golf club.

Bill was a tireless leader in the family business, Gaylord Trucking. His dedication and hard work contributed to its success.

Bill’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
