Modi Launches New Jammu Rail Division Tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several significant railway projects on Monday, January 6th, at 12:30 p.m. via video conferencing. These projects aim to bolster connectivity and spur economic growth across various regions of India.

A key highlight is the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division. Encompassing 742.1 kilometers across several crucial sections – Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal-Pathankot, Batala-Pathankot, and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar – this division will significantly improve connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir and surrounding areas, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration of the region’s residents. This enhanced connectivity is expected to create jobs, stimulate infrastructure development, boost tourism, and foster overall socio-economic progress.

Further enhancing transportation infrastructure, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana. Built at a cost of approximately Rs 413 crore, this eco-friendly terminal features improved passenger amenities and a second entry point, designed to alleviate congestion at existing stations in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.

Finally, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of the East Coast Railway. This project promises improved connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and neighboring regions, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the area.

These railway initiatives follow the inauguration of other development projects in Delhi on Sunday, totaling over Rs 12,200 crore. These projects, similarly focused on regional connectivity and ease of travel, included a 13-kilometer stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, providing a much-needed faster and safer transit option for residents of the National Capital Region.
