Beloved Resident Passes Away at 84
It is with heavy hearts that the Farmingdale community announces the passing of Stanley “Gene” E. Meservey, a cherished resident who passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, at the age of 84.
Gene was a pillar of the Farmingdale community, known for his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and neighbors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Life Well Lived
Gene was born and raised in Farmingdale, where he spent his entire life. He graduated from Farmingdale High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After his service, Gene returned to Farmingdale and worked as a carpenter for over 40 years. He was a skilled craftsman who took pride in his work, and his contributions to the community are evident in the many homes and buildings he helped to build.
Gene was also a devoted family man. He married his beloved wife, Mary, in 1958, and they raised three children together. Gene was a loving husband and father, and he always put his family first.
Community Involvement
Gene was actively involved in the Farmingdale community throughout his life. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Farmingdale Lions Club. He also served on the Farmingdale Planning Board for many years.
Gene’s dedication to his community was evident in his work with the Farmingdale Historical Society. He was instrumental in preserving the town’s history, and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.

Funeral Arrangements
Funeral arrangements for Stanley “Gene” E. Meservey are being handled by Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Gardiner. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Farmingdale Baptist Church.
