Rugby League Standings Calculator is a free online tool from Ilm Hunt. It runs in your browser, needs no sign-up, and gives you an answer in seconds. Coaches, players, fans, and league organisers use tools like this to keep track of results without a spreadsheet.
You can use it on a phone, a tablet, or a computer. There is nothing to download and nothing to install. Just open the page, enter your numbers, and read the result.
How to use it
Using the tool takes less than a minute. Follow these steps, and you will have your answer right away.
- Enter your teams, names, or scores in the boxes above.
- Check that every number is typed the right way round.
- Press the button under the form to work out the result.
- Read the table or total shown below the button.
- Change any number and press the button again to try a new case.
How the scoring works
Rugby league gives 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 for a loss. A team that has a bye, meaning no game that round, also gets 2 points in many leagues. That keeps the table fair when teams play a different number of games. Teams are ranked by points first, then points difference, then points scored. This tool adds bye points for the teams you list, so a bye week does not push a team down the table by mistake.
The tool applies the same steps every time, so two people with the same numbers always get the same answer. That matters in a league, where a small mistake in the order can change who finishes first.
Worked example
Sharks beat Eagles 20-10, and Eagles beat Wolves 12-6. Without byes, Sharks have 2 points, Eagles have 2, and Wolves have 0. But if Wolves had a bye in an earlier round, they also get 2 points, which ties them with the others. Points difference then decides the order: Sharks are plus 10, Eagles are minus 4, and Wolves are minus 6, so Sharks still finish first.
Try the same numbers in the tool above. You should get the same result, which is a good way to check that you typed everything in the right boxes.
Tips for better results
- List bye teams exactly as spelled in the results, or the bye points will go to a new team.
- A bye is worth 2 points here, matching most rugby league tables.
- Points difference is the first tiebreaker, so big wins still matter.
- Leave the bye box empty in rounds where every team plays.
Double-check the names and scores before you press the button. Most wrong answers come from a mistyped number, not from the tool itself.
Common questions
How many points is a rugby league win?
Two points. A draw is worth one point.
Do byes count as games played?
No. A bye adds 2 points but does not add a game to the played column here.
What breaks a tie?
Points difference first, then points scored.
That covers the main points. If you run a league or a group, this tool saves you the maths and keeps the table fair for everyone.
Keeping a written record of your results helps you spot patterns over time. Save the table after each round, and you can see which teams improve and which ones fade. A short note next to each result, like a key injury or a late goal, makes the record even more useful later.
