You must not have resided or worked in Spain or Portugal for more than 12 of the last 36 months — standard EU mobility rule. Roughly 30 fellowships are awarded per year, making this highly competitive. Because it is STEM-only, applicants from social sciences or humanities backgrounds should look elsewhere on this list — la Caixa runs a separate, differently structured programme for those fields that is not covered here.
