What this means when comparing offers
A higher headline stipend does not automatically mean more money in your pocket. Zurich, Geneva, and Dublin are among the most expensive cities in this list, while Turin, Magdeburg-adjacent research campuses, and smaller Belgian university towns cost considerably less to live in. Before accepting any offer, look up current one-bedroom rental prices in that specific city, not just the country, since costs can vary by a factor of two or more within the same country.
