IELTS vs Duolingo for European Universities (2026)

Duolingo English Test (DET) publishes its own official directory of institutions that accept it. Searching that directory directly, rather than relying on aggregator claims, shows German acceptance concentrated among private institutions: IU Internationale Hochschule, SRH institutions, Arden University, Berlin School of Business and Innovation, Munich Business School, Schiller International, and Hertie School all appear. Major public research universities did not turn up for standard degree admission in the same search — Technical University of Munich, for example, was not listed at all, and the University of Mannheim only appeared for its international exchange program, not regular master’s admission.
